It’s fall 2011, the trees are turning colors and dropping their leaves. The pumpkins are ready and the weather is changing. We still spend one day every weekend at the farm. In mid-October we spent weighing in all the babies, they are all gaining weight at a very good pace, good mother’s milk. We also cut some bangs so they could see better. We micro-chipped about 6 of the young cria, we ran out of chips and will reorder more so we can finish the job. The chips are about the size of a small grain of rice, when you read the chip not only do you get the identification number, but it also records their temperature.
We are slowing down on the number of births for next year, we are planning only one, Gregg’s Rosie, she is his gray girl. We hope to bring more gray alpaca’s into our herd.
We still have not been able to move to North Carolina, we want the Skokie house sold or rented before we move, as everyone know the real estate market is terrible so not much happening.
